2. Queensborough Community College Yearbook Design

Background:
Queensborough Community College (QCC), founded in 1959 in the heart of Queens, is recognized for its diverse, dynamic student body. In 2020, QCC invited students to design the graduation yearbook to reflect the spirit and journey of its graduates. I was honored to create a design that captured this milestone, making their final year memorable and visually striking.

Brainstorm
The design concept aimed to highlight key campus landmarks like the Science Building, Humanities Building, Gymnasium, and the iconic Q27 bus stop. These elements, along with a campus map and the 2020 graduation year, would be incorporated into the yearbook’s overall design.

Execution
Titled Aurora, the yearbook design featured six custom vector letters representing QCC’s prominent buildings. For 2020, I integrated the school logo with its colors to emphasize school pride. Additionally, I vectorized the Q27 bus stop and placed it on the book’s spine, creating a nostalgic touch for graduates to cherish.

Conclusion
This project made it to the final round, marking a significant milestone in my design journey. It taught me invaluable lessons about collaboration, as it was my first experience working alongside professionals in a real-world setting. This opportunity not only sharpened my skills but also deepened my understanding of the collaborative design process, preparing me for future challenges in the industry.
